When furniture makers Travis Dean, Peter Tragardh-Daly and Charlie Wilde each came to work at a shared studio workshop in Brunswick it wasn’t long before they began to collaborate on larger scale joinery projects. They quickly gained recognition for their work and in 2006 formed a business together – Cantilever.
Each brings an appreciation of good design to the business, and a dedication to sustainability and quality honed from years creating exceptional hand built furniture.
Sustainable and safe – good for you and the environment
Sustainability is a given in Cantilever’s workshop; from the selection of materials to the design and construction of the final product. Our preferred construction materials are EO rated, FSC certified or plantation harvested. Water based finishes and sealants are zero or low VOC. Due to our thoughtful choice of materials our joinery produces extremely low or zero emissions, an important factor contributing to the healthy environment of your home.
Holistic process
Cantilever take a common-sense approach to excellence that flows naturally from their furniture making background. Fine finishing, attention to detail, well considered material solutions, and a thoughtful approach to design all add to the integrity of the final product.
This attitude extends beyond the product itself to the practices in the workshop, where wastage is minimized and re-use and recycling is pursued. Even the packaging is recycled!
Once a job is complete, it’s just the beginning! Cantilever joinery is built to last, to fit seamlessly into the residence where it is installed and to be enjoyed for its quality, design and function for many years to come.
